Kimmi Kennedy has accomplished a lot in her modeling career. She’s grace the pages of countless magazines from Smooth Girl, Fit Models, and was even awarded web girl of the year by Kings Magazine. She's done TV commercials and hip hop videos with Grammy award winning artist. We caught up with the sexy, funny, and self proclaimed monster to see what she’s been up to, how she feels about complexion issues in the modeling industry, and what she really thinks about Sex in the City 2. And yes, we do get a little personal.
BP: You've been in the modeling industry for a while now, what inspired you to start modeling?
KK: Being in the modeling industry wasn’t something I was inspired to do; it’s more like something I feel into. I was taking adult pictures at the time and people in the industry starting approaching me through MySpace and making me offers to do different stuff. I kept doing it and opportunities got better and bigger, so I kept being a monster.
BP: What's the biggest advantage of being in the modeling industry?
KK: Having access to different people and doing different things outside of modeling, like my music and my radio show. I’m able to do these things because of what I was doing with the modeling.
BP: What do you consider the most difficult aspect of the modeling industry?
KK: Dealing with the people that run the modeling industry like the magazine editors and the casting people. They want you to be a yes girl in this industry and because I’m not that type of chick I tend to bump heads with a lot of these people. There’s a lot of stuff I don’t do because I won’t comply to want they want.
BP: If you could create the perfect photo shoot what would it be?
KK: I can’t even say because I've done a lot of things already. I’ve shot with the Bentley’s and the Maybach’s. I’ve done shoots with pit bulls and in the mansions. The only thing at this point is to shoot with better photographers.BP: Tell us about www.KimmiKennedy.com.
KK: KimmiKennedy.com has exclusive pics that can only be found on my website. I’m currently turning the site into a social network since I get enough traffic, I can have people come there and set up their own pages to be a part of my social network where I can put out news about me or someone else.
BP: What do you like to do outside of modeling?
KK: I go to the movies a lot.BP: What was the last movie you saw?
KK: Kickass, that movie was dope.
BP: Really
KK: Yes, I like action films and the little girl in the movie is a beast, you have to see it.
BP: What type of movies do you like?
KK: Gangster films, comedies, pretty much anything that’s not a girly girl movie.
BP: I take it, you're not going to see Sex in the City 2?
KK: Hell no, That’s that punk shit.
BP: I told my followers on Twitter that we were interviewing you and the number one question they wanted us to ask is are you single?
KK: I’ve been super single for five years now.
BP: That's a long time.
KK: I know, but it works for me I’m too focused to be in a relationship right now.
BP: If a man doesn't have money, he better have...?
KK: Swag
BP: Why?
KK: Because I'm swagtastic. My whole persona revolves around swag. My radio show is called Swagger Radio, so to be with me your swag must be tight or you'll be jealous of me. You don't need money to be with me but you must have swag. That's sexy.
BP: What do you consider your best feature?
KK: My personality
BP: Yes, you do have a great personality.
KK: Of course I do, I keep it one thousand
BP: You seem taller in your pics, but you're a lot shorter in person.
KK: Yeah, I’m itty bitty. It’s all in the way I pose that makes my legs look longer. If you look at my pics you can’t tell if I’m 5’3 or 5’7.
BP: Have you ever had sex on the first date?
KK: Of course I have and they are the people I never want to see or talk to again.
BP: What is your favorite position?
KK: I haven’t had sexual relations in four months so I don’t even have one right now. I’m too focused; if I have sex it will mess up my powers.
BP: Lately there's been a lot of talk in modeling industry regarding skin complexion. Are some of the people in the industry bias when it comes to lighter and darker skinned models?
KK: Fuck Yeah!
BP: Has it affected you?
KK: It hasn’t affected me at all. I can’t say if it affected any other models, but I do see the bias. It’s not even black or white anymore; they want you to have the shape of a black girl but don’t be a black girl. In other words they want a non-black girl with a black girl’s body. I have respect for all of these models Black, White, Latino whatever, but when the people in the industry use our skin complexion as a catalyst to say who’s hot and who’s not that’s when it becomes a problem.
BP: What else can we expect from Kimmi Kennedy in 2010?
KK: Everything, I’ll be featured in the next issue of Sweets Magazine. I'm re-launching my radio show which is syndicated across the east coast, I’m doing fitness modeling DVDs and a new five minute cartoon that I’m creating, so be on the lookout.
BP: Thank you for the interview and we'll be listening out for the radio show Swagger Radio.
KK: Your welcome and thank you as well. This was fun.
